On May 11, the 2026 Annual Conference and Academic Exchange Meeting of the North American Alumni Association of Shandong Medical and Pharmaceutical University was held in Los Angeles, USA. Sun Xiangjun, Secretary of CPC SDMPU Committee and President of the Alumni Association, and Zhao Jinggang, Vice President, attended the event online. Members of the North American Alumni Association participated in the event through a hybrid online-offline format.

On behalf of the university, Sun Xiangjun extended warm congratulations on the successful hosting of the annual conference and sincere greetings to the North American alumni. He fully acknowledged their significant contributions over the years in alumni networking, mutual support among alumni, and service to the alma mater. He noted that the North American alumni, with their solid foundations, pragmatic approach, and diligent work ethic, have achieved remarkable accomplishments across various fields, bringing honor to their alma mater and pride to the nation. He urged them to uphold their original aspirations as classmates, maintain deep bonds, and make the alumni association a warm and reliable community for North American alumni; to actively engage on the international stage, demonstrate responsibility toward their homeland, and serve as bridges for cultural exchange and scientific collaboration between China and other countries; and to collaborate for mutual empowerment and shared development, providing intellectual support to accelerate the university’s internationalization. He emphasized that the university would continue to support alumni growth and sincerely invited them to visit frequently to strengthen their connections with the institution.

At the meeting, Wang Huanyou, President of the North American Alumni Association of Shandong Medical and Pharmaceutical University and a graduate of the class of 1982, delivered the opening speech. He pledged to continue strengthening the association, guide alumni in advancing the university’s international endeavors, and contribute the collective strength of North American alumni to its development. Li Li, Honorary President of the North American Alumni Association, a graduate of the class of 1978, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of MEBO Group, gave the welcome address. She congratulated the university on its achievements in high-quality development, expressed heartfelt gratitude for its support, and committed to actively serving as a bridge to facilitate the institutions growth.
Following the opening ceremony, an academic exchange session was held, during which alumni Yu Baofa (class of 1977), Wang Huanyou (class of 1982), and Gao Guofeng (class of 1990) delivered academic presentations respectively. The event also featured a symposium between North American alumni and faculty and students from the MEBO International Program, where alumni engaged in in-depth discussions with participants on topics including career development, talent cultivation, and university-industry collaboration.
